Looking for a special lunch spot in the heart of Seoul, my boyfriend and I discovered DAEBOJUNG City Hall. While searching for premium Korean cuisine near City Hall Seoul, this Hanwoo omakase restaurant caught my attention with rave reviews praising its all-private-room setup and reasonable pricing. Given its prime City Hall location, the restaurant is popular for business dinners, family gatherings, and even engagement dinners. After experiencing it firsthand, I completely understand the buzz.

DAEBOJUNG is located on the basement floor at 41 Sejong-daero 9-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul. The restaurant is incredibly accessible, just a two-minute walk from City Hall Station Exit 9. The proximity to landmarks like Gwanghwamun and Deoksugung Palace makes it perfect for combining lunch with sightseeing or a date.

If you're driving, Pacific Tower's underground parking is available with complimentary parking for two hours on weekdays and three hours on weekends—a significant perk in downtown Seoul. Operating hours are 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM on weekdays, starting at 11:30 AM on Saturdays, with Sundays closed.

From the entrance, the calm landscaping and clean interior design immediately impressed us. The staff greeted us warmly, setting a positive tone from the start. DAEBOJUNG's standout feature is that every single seat is in a private room. With 21 individual rooms and the largest accommodating up to 40 guests, it's ideal for corporate dinners, family gatherings, engagement dinners, or any important occasion requiring privacy.

We were shown to a two-person room with understated Korean traditional decor and a spacious, comfortable layout. Despite the sweltering humidity outside, the staff had pre-cooled the room perfectly. These thoughtful touches made all the difference.

DAEBOJUNG offers separate lunch and dinner menus with various course options. We ordered the Hanwoo Shabu-Shabu Set for two at 69,000 won. For 1++ grade Korean beef omakase in downtown Seoul at this price point, the value is remarkable—comparable to or even cheaper than a typical Korean BBQ restaurant for two, but with course dining and private room ambiance included.

Upon entering our room, an elegant table spread was already prepared. Each side dish was beautifully presented, particularly the vibrant kimchi. The flavors exceeded expectations—perfectly seasoned without being overly salty, allowing the natural taste to shine. A kiosk in the room allowed us to order additional side dishes without calling staff, adding to the convenience.

The welcome drink offered a choice between grape juice and champagne; we chose champagne. The gentle bubbles and refreshing flavor awakened our appetites perfectly.

The first course, perilla seed samgyetang porridge, was ideal for lunch—warm, silky, and deeply aromatic with perilla, settling the stomach beautifully. The accompanying seasonal sashimi trio was impeccably fresh with no fishy taste. Paired with champagne, it was wonderfully refreshing.

The three-bite delicacies were my personal highlight. Featuring abalone, lobster, and clam preparations, each bite-sized creation was exquisitely plated with evident care. The zucchini cup filled with tender abalone and drizzled with abalone liver sauce delivered an extraordinary combination of texture and flavor. The harmony between sweet vegetables and chewy abalone was perfection.

The Hanwoo buckwheat noodles featured refreshing, clean broth with perfectly springy noodles. Generous amounts of perilla leaves and sesame added summer-perfect flavors. Even the unique bowl design was delightful.

The course centerpiece was undoubtedly the premium Hanwoo shabu-shabu. Beautifully marbled Korean beef arrived with fresh vegetables, and the portion was surprisingly generous. As someone who regularly enjoys shabu-shabu, DAEBOJUNG's broth stood out with its deep, rich flavor. The first bite drew an involuntary gasp of appreciation.

The beef is briefly swished in broth and dipped in one of three sauces. My favorite was the black sesame sauce—nutty and subtly sweet, complementing the tender Hanwoo perfectly. The combination of pristine broth, quality beef, and fresh vegetables felt nourishing and light. Among Seoul's Korean beef omakase restaurants, this shabu-shabu ranks at the absolute top.

After enjoying the shabu-shabu, staff entered to prepare egg porridge tableside, adding rice and egg to the remaining broth. They offered to cook it longer if preferred, but we enjoyed it immediately—the consistency and seasoning were spot-on. As a porridge enthusiast, I couldn't leave a single spoonful behind.

The finale featured watermelon-punch-flavored sorbet—pleasantly sweet and refreshing, a clean end to the course. We had requested anniversary lettering service and received a commemorative Polaroid photo, making the occasion even more memorable.

Throughout the meal, staff service was exemplary—attentive without being intrusive, anticipating needs perfectly. The restaurant also offers free corkage (excluding wine sold on-site), so bringing your own wine or champagne is welcome.

DAEBOJUNG City Hall exceeded expectations in location, value, taste, and ambiance. Finding this quality of Korean cuisine course at such reasonable prices in central Seoul is the restaurant's greatest strength. The all-private-room configuration ensures focused conversation, making it ideal for important gatherings without any awkwardness.

The 1++ Hanwou shabu-shabu's profound broth and melt-in-your-mouth beef texture were truly unforgettable. Every course demonstrated genuine care, enhanced by attentive service that made the entire experience delightful from start to finish. I'm already planning to return with my parents. If you're searching for Hanwoo omakase in Seoul, I wholeheartedly recommend DAEBOJUNG.
