When planning our wedding anniversary dinner, my husband and I debated where to make reservations. We ultimately chose WOOARA Gwanghwamun—the same place we'd visited last year. Returning to a restaurant speaks volumes about the experience, and this premium Korean cuisine destination truly deserves the repeat visit. Among Korean beef omakase restaurants in Gwanghwamun, WOOARA stands out not only for its exceptional private rooms but also for its fine-dining approach that goes far beyond simply serving great meat. It's the perfect venue for celebrating life's special moments.

We booked a Friday evening slot, and since it happened to be vacation season, traffic around Gwanghwamun was light and parking was a breeze. Revisiting WOOARA after a year, we found that the meticulous service and outstanding quality remained as impressive as ever.

WOOARA Gwanghwamun is located on B1 of The K Twin Towers. While it's within walking distance from both Gwanghwamun Station and Anguk Station, we drove. The building's parking garage is convenient, and the restaurant validates for 2 hours of free parking with your meal. If you're taking public transportation, exit 6 of Gwanghwamun Station (Line 5) puts you about 3 minutes away on foot. The location is also near Gyeongbokgung Palace, making it ideal if you'd like to combine a stroll with your dinner plans.

As you descend to the basement level and enter WOOARA, you'll notice the open kitchen adjacent to the hallway leading to the private rooms. Young chefs can be seen preparing at their stations, and they greet every passing guest with bright, cheerful hellos—an immediate mood-lifter. Watching these talented professionals at work, knowing that Gwanghwamun fine-dining caliber fusion dishes emerge from their hands, heightened my anticipation considerably.

The private rooms are immaculately maintained and comfortable, allowing you to enjoy your meal in a truly intimate setting. For anyone searching for a private room Korean restaurant in Gwanghwamun, I can confidently recommend WOOARA's elegant spaces.

We selected the Dinner B Course, a 10-course menu that's essentially the signature course minus the tiger prawn and cleanser. WOOARA serves generous portions, so the B Course leaves you pleasantly satisfied. Before the meal begins, the chef personally presents the fresh ingredients that will be featured throughout the evening—a ritual that builds excitement and showcases their commitment to quality.

We chose sparkling wine as our welcome drink and toasted to a wonderful start. One of WOOARA's best features is that it's corkage-free, so you're welcome to bring your favorite wine or spirits without worrying about additional fees.

Beginning with chawanmushi, each course reflected genuine care and craftsmanship. The appetizers—Hanwoo tartare, truffle lobster, and tuna—were elegantly plated in bite-sized portions that awakened the palate beautifully. The silky texture of the Korean beef yukhoe and the subtle truffle aroma wafting from the lobster were both memorable.

The standout for me was the caviar marinated Spanish mackerel. Fresh fish topped generously with citrus sauce created a bright yet luxurious flavor profile that filled my mouth with pure bliss. The pop of caviar against the tender fish was a moment of true happiness.

The chilled sweet corn soup arrived refreshingly cold, with individual kernels providing delightful texture. Its gentle sweetness and nuttiness served both as a palate cleanser and as a bridge that heightened anticipation for the next course.

The smoked abalone dish, reminiscent of Japanese otoshi, also impressed me deeply. The abalone and radish were cooked to tenderness, while crisp zucchini added textural interest. The subtle smokiness elevated the entire dish to sophisticated heights.

The grilled tilefish emerged with a crispy exterior and moist interior. It was accompanied by wild chive rice topped with mullet roe, and when broth was poured over it ochazuke-style, the dish became both comforting and deeply flavorful. The thoughtfulness of the menu composition truly shone through.

Next came the perilla oil octopus Hanwoo noodles, my absolute favorite from this visit. Capellini noodles tossed with yuzu sauce created a refreshing base, while sea urchin added a punch that brought the flavors to life. It was so delicious that I actually tried recreating it at home afterward. Even looking at the photos makes me crave it all over again.

The main course, grilled Hanwoo chuck flap tail, lived up to every expectation. The meat was tender with beautiful marbling, releasing juices with every bite. The accompanying side dishes were impeccably prepared, and the seaweed soup, rich with Korean beef, paired wonderfully with the grilled meat. This was Korean beef omakase in Gwanghwamun at its finest—quality that truly honors the designation.

The Dinner B Course portions are genuinely filling, and by this point I was quite full, but there was no way I'd skip dessert.

Since we'd mentioned our anniversary when booking, the staff prepared a special dessert plate featuring lemon sorbet and meringue. The bright lemon notes and airy meringue made for the perfect ending to the meal. They even took a Polaroid photo for us to keep as a memento of the occasion. If you're celebrating an anniversary or birthday, I highly recommend mentioning it when you reserve—it makes the experience even more special.

I can confidently say that WOOARA Gwanghwamun represents the pinnacle of Korean beef omakase in this area. They don't simply serve excellent meat—every course showcases the chef's creativity and dedication, and the service is both attentive and warm. The private dining rooms are beautifully appointed for intimate gatherings, and practical perks like parking validation and the corkage-free policy add real value.

If you're planning an engagement dinner in Gwanghwamun, a company dinner, or searching for an exceptional date night destination, I wholeheartedly recommend WOOARA. Like my husband and me, you'll find yourself wanting to return again and again.
