Located on B1 of the K-Twin Tower, WOOARA features an open kitchen design that showcases their commitment to cleanliness, while the elegant interior catches your eye the moment you enter. I reserved the Dinner B Course for a weekday evening, and from start to finish, it was an exceptional dining experience that exemplified authentic Korean dining at its finest.

WOOARA Gwanghwamun is located at B1, 50 Jongno 1-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, inside the K-Twin Tower. The restaurant is within walking distance from both Gwanghwamun Station and Anguk Station, making it convenient for those using public transportation. If you're driving, the building offers up to 120 minutes of complimentary parking starting from B3, so there's no stress about finding a spot.

Take the escalator down from the building entrance and turn right—you'll spot WOOARA immediately thanks to its sophisticated storefront that stands out among the neighboring establishments. Operating hours are daily from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with a break time from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Last orders are accepted at 9:00 PM.

Upon arrival, I provided my reservation name and was promptly escorted to an individual private room. This is exactly why I recommend WOOARA to anyone seeking a private room restaurant in Gwanghwamun. Every table is in its own enclosed space, allowing you to enjoy conversation and your meal without any concern about neighboring diners.

The room interior was spotless with subtle lighting that created a refined ambiance, and the table setting was immaculate. A dedicated manager attended to us from beginning to end, ensuring the course progression was seamless. The attentive and thoughtful service made the entire meal feel genuinely special.

The menu is divided into lunch courses, dinner courses, and à la carte options. Since I visited on a weekday evening, I selected the Dinner B Course. When you order a course meal, WOOARA presents "WOOARA's Elegance"—a beautiful wooden box containing all the ingredients that will be used in your meal. Lobster, Hanwoo beef, abalone, red tilefish, caviar, and more are displayed for your inspection, building trust and anticipation.

Because I mentioned it was a special occasion when making my reservation, the restaurant graciously provided a complimentary glass of champagne, a dessert with custom lettering, and a Polaroid photo service. Grape juice is also available for non-drinkers, so everyone can participate in the toast.

The first course was chawanmushi, a delicate steamed egg custard with sweet shrimp, ginkgo nuts, and okra. The seasoning was gentle, allowing the natural flavors of each ingredient to shine through—a warm and comforting opening.

Next came "Four Elegant Bites," an appetizer featuring tuna, Hanwoo tartare, tenderloin, and lobster. Each piece was bite-sized and beautifully plated, with the tartare and tenderloin showcasing exceptional freshness and tenderness. The quality of the Korean beef was immediately apparent, setting the tone for what was to come.

The horse mackerel dish featured vegetables—eggplant, chamnamul (Korean wild vegetable), kumquat, and pear—wrapped in delicate slices of fish and served with a refreshing citrus-based sauce. The richness of the fish paired beautifully with the tangy sauce, cleansing the palate perfectly.

The Chojang sweet corn soup was both creamy and sweet, with a subtle hint of truffle oil. Topped generously with Avruga caviar, it was as visually stunning as it was delicious. This course transformed humble corn into something truly luxurious.

The abalone course arrived with radish, zucchini, and smoked clams, all served over a delicate soy-based sauce. Dipping the tender yet pleasantly chewy abalone into the sauce created a perfect balance of flavors. The smoked clams were plump and had a wonderful texture.

My personal favorite was the red tilefish course. It was served atop chwi-namul rice (Korean aster greens rice) with mullet roe and red tilefish, then finished tableside with hot broth poured over. The smoky aroma filled the air as the warm soup transformed it into a comforting rice dish. The silky texture of the tilefish and the fragrant greens complemented each other beautifully.

The perilla oil octopus Hanwoo noodles featured thin capellini pasta topped with octopus, sea urchin, Korean beef, chamnamul, and aged kimchi. The yuzu-scented broth brought everything together with a bright, aromatic depth. It was the perfect palate refresher before the main course.

The main course featured premium Hanwoo beef sirloin cooked on an individual tabletop grill. It was accompanied by grilled vegetables and potatoes, while a traditional Korean table setting included Icheon rice, Hanwoo seaweed soup, and three banchan (side dishes). The marbling and texture of the beef lived up to WOOARA's reputation for premium Korean cuisine.

While the portion of meat might appear modest at first glance, the preceding courses were so generous that it turned out to be the perfect amount. Grilling the beef yourself added an interactive element to the experience. The rice had a wonderful firm texture, and the seaweed soup was remarkably rich and flavorful. The side dishes were clean-tasting and well-balanced, never overpowering.

Finally, the custom-lettered dessert arrived, beautifully decorated to enhance the celebratory atmosphere. The complimentary Polaroid photo was a lovely keepsake from the evening.

WOOARA Gwanghwamun operates a corkage-free policy. While they offer an extensive wine list, if you have a favorite bottle, you're welcome to bring it and pair it with your Hanwoo course. This flexibility is a significant advantage for wine enthusiasts.

I made my reservation through Catch Table, and I highly recommend reserving in advance—especially for weekends and dinner service, which book up quickly. You can also reserve your table online or call directly at 0507-1398-9554.
