DAEBOJUNG Yeouido sits just three minutes on foot from Yeouido Station, tucked in an alley between IFC Mall and The Hyundai Seoul. The location makes it ideal for combining shopping or a riverside walk with dinner. I visited after spending time near Yeouido Park, arriving right on schedule for my evening reservation.

The restaurant occupies the building's basement level, where traditional Korean design elements greet you from the entrance. Parking is available in the building's underground garage with two hours complimentary—no stress even if you drive. The garage was fairly full during dinner hours, but spaces were available.

The main draw for seeking out DAEBOJUNG is undoubtedly the private room setup. Every single seat in the restaurant is in an individual private room, allowing you to dine without worrying about neighboring tables. With 20 rooms total and capacity up to 20 people in larger configurations, the space works equally well for intimate anniversary dinners or company gatherings.

My four-person room featured hanok-inspired lattice walls and natural wood tones that created a warm, sophisticated atmosphere. What impressed me most was the flexibility—some rooms have sliding partitions that open to create larger spaces. This adaptability makes DAEBOJUNG particularly well-suited for engagement dinners, milestone celebrations, or family meetings where group size might vary.

The open kitchen design lets you watch the cooking process directly, which added a layer of trust. Seeing the meticulously maintained kitchen raised my expectations for the meal ahead.

The menu divides into lunch and dinner courses. I ordered the dinner course 'Bo' at 149,000 won per person, which is also available during lunch hours. Even the menu design showed attention to detail—shaped like a traditional hanok gate.

Dinner Course 'Bo' Composition

Before the course began, staff brought out the actual cuts of Korean beef that would be served—strip loin, ribeye, and tenderloin. Just seeing the marbling revealed the quality difference. This small ceremonial touch made the experience feel genuinely special.

The traditional side dish spread arrives first. Kimchi, seasoned vegetables, and fermented seafood are arranged neatly—the Seoul-style kimchi stood out with its refreshing yet properly fermented spicy bite. A touchpad makes requesting refills convenient.

The first course brings perilla seed samgyetang porridge alongside five varieties of seasonal sashimi. The porridge carried a rich nutty aroma from the perilla without feeling heavy, while the sashimi selection—tuna, sea bream, salmon, sea bass, and cocktail shrimp—showed excellent aging with a pleasantly chewy texture. Lemon and wasabi accompaniments cleansed the palate beautifully.

The three bite-sized appetizers that followed were visually striking. Zucchini with abalone, lobster, and an omija berry cleanser arrived on a granite plate decorated with pine cones, presenting a distinctly Korean natural aesthetic. The omija tea served as a perfect palate reset in just the right portion.

The Hanwoo yukhoe ranks among the most memorable courses. Fresh Korean beef tartare topped with water dropwort, flower-cut pear, egg yolk, and served with crispy seaweed chips delivered incredible freshness and tenderness with a delightfully chewy mouthfeel. It's been a long time since I've had yukhoe of this caliber.

The Hanwoo tteokgalbi burger sandwiches dense, flavorful patties between squid ink buns. The patty was so tender it practically melted without chewing, while the soft bun kept it from feeling too filling.

The Hanwoo buckwheat noodles incorporate perilla and sesame leaves with cubes of Korean beef. The soy-based sauce strikes a nice savory balance, and the perilla oil depth complements the buckwheat beautifully. The restaurant uses 100% Jeju buckwheat made in-house, giving the noodles excellent texture.

Finally, the main event: Hanwoo charcoal grill. A mini charcoal brazier is set on the table, accompanied by beautifully trimmed strip loin, ribeye, and tenderloin. Abalone and scallop arrive alongside the beef.

One of DAEBOJUNG's greatest strengths is the grilling service. Staff grill the meat tableside, ensuring optimal doneness so you never stress about cooking technique. You simply focus on eating—a huge advantage for business dinners or client entertainment near IFC Mall.

They started with strip loin, then moved to ribeye and tenderloin, all cooked to a perfect medium-rare that preserved maximum juiciness and tenderness. A light touch of salt or wasabi enhanced the natural Korean beef flavor. The strip loin released incredible juice with each bite, while the tenderloin represented the pinnacle of melt-in-your-mouth texture.

I tend to eat slowly, but staff kept the meat warm on the mini brazier so every bite stayed hot until the last piece. This kind of attentive service explains why DAEBOJUNG has earned such strong word-of-mouth reputation.

Given the private room setup, reservations at DAEBOJUNG Yeouido are essential. Book ahead by phone or through Naver reservations. If you're celebrating a special occasion, mention it when you reserve—the restaurant offers anniversary services like custom lettering and Polaroid photos. I requested in advance and received complimentary white champagne and grape juice.

Free corkage is another major benefit. Bring your own wine or champagne without additional fees. High chairs are available, making family gatherings with children completely manageable.

DAEBOJUNG Yeouido excels across every dimension—food quality, service, and atmosphere. While 149,000 won per person represents a significant investment, the course composition, premium 1++ Hanwoo grade, and tableside grilling service justify the price. The all-private-room configuration provides genuine value for important gatherings.

As a Blue Ribbon-certified establishment, the restaurant impressively reinterprets traditional Korean cuisine through a modern lens. Most importantly, the Hanwoo quality exceeded expectations. Whether you're searching for Hanwoo omakase in Yeouido or premium Korean cuisine for a special event, I confidently recommend DAEBOJUNG Yeouido. I'm already looking forward to trying the lunch course next time.
